Imagine going down your favorite skiing slope. The cold wind is blowing in your face. You hear the pleasant sound of the snow on your favorite pair of skis. You are happy and peaceful. Then you hear a scraping, your skis fly up, and black out for less than 5 seconds. When you come back to reality, you are laying on your back, with your left arm stinging with pain, and you have cuts and pain filling you whole body. In the distance, you hear 2 people yelling, "HEY, are you ok." You say yes, praying on the inside that nothing is broken. You finish your slope, pack up your stuff, and head to the nurse's station, just to get it checked out. They examine it, and are rushing to find you a ride to the Emergency Care. You have a mental break down, you are realizing the ripple effect on your situation, no swimming, which means you can't participate in the AA meet, which you worked your butt off to get into. You get a ride to the hospital, then the boy in your grade who is in the car with you, texts all your friends plus his friends. Then, you get a wave of messages. You have to explain the whole story about 10 times, and tell your friends that you are ok. You meet your mom at the hospital, you are in a lot of pain. You try to stay calm, maybe it's not broken, you repeat over and over in your head. You wait for about an hour, just to get your results in your situation. The doctor explains that you broke your arm in 2 places. There, you let all the pain out, you are crying waterfalls of tears. But then the doctor asks, "what color do you want your new cast?" You stop, and smile while saying your favorite color. Your mom calms you down. This might not be so bad, I get to sleep in every day, all my friends will sign my cast, this might actually be fun! |
