For this final quarter, the English teachers are having the eighth grade make a presentation based off the books we read. My book was "I Will Always Write Back". Its about this girl who lives in Pennsylvania, and gets a penal who is from Zimbabwe. Through their back and forth letters, she learns that her problems are very small compared to what her Zimbabwean friend is facing. So, I did my research project on the Money Crisis in Zimbabwe. And let me say, it was very eye-opening.
I understand very little of the world outside of Powell, Ohio. And over the years, I've been trying to attempt to understand what it's like everywhere else in the world. My project helped me see the world through a different set of eyes. I was able to learn that having the opportunity to eat was a privilege, when I can eat whenever I want without a care. I hope one day everyone can understand that the life in Powell, Ohio, is nothing close to the true outside world.
