The first two days were both fun and sad. On the first day was the day where we drove the very long 10 hour drive up to D.C., while stoping every 3 hours to use the restroom and eat lunch. It was very sad to see the looks of you parents' faces when they saw their child leaving and wouldn't be back for a few days. The trip up was fun; watching movies, playing games, talking to your group, texting others on different buses, eating yummy snacks. It couldn't be better. We met our bus driver, Dewane, and our tour guide, John. John would talk about the things we would visit that day. Today we were going to Arlington National Cemetery, to watch the changing of the guard, see the Kenndy's eternal flame, and the Lee Mansion. The changing of the guard was super cool. They did their guarding with intervals of 21 seconds; 21 steps, 21 seconds, 21 shots fired. This is because when America won its independence, they would go and trade with foreign countries, they would shoot 7 shots to say they were friendly, and if the countries let them in, they would shoot 14 shots back. The eternal flame was cool, but very sad. It was for the grave of JFK after his assassination. It is also where Mrs. Kenndy, and the 2 children, which one was never born., was laid. The Lee Mansion was cool because it was where the first soldiers of the civil war were laid so the Lee's would never return. If they did, it says that the ghosts of the dead would haunt them.
The second day was where we went to many places. First we went to the Washington Mansion, where we saw the mansion, the Washington's resting place, and some of his land. It was pretty cool because you didn't realize you were stepping on the same stairs as our founding fathers. The place was absolutely beautiful. There was also the education center where a really cool 4-D movie played about George Washington. Then we went to 3 museums, the Newseum, and 2 Smithsonian museums; Natural History and American History. My favorite was the Natural History because it showed what the Earth can make and its amazing. You saw things like the Hope Diamond, a huge T-rex, the jaws of the biggest shark in the world. After the museums, we saw a few memorials. When we were waiting for the bus, I got some upsetting news from home. My grandmother passed away after having a stroke on Sunday. It was very unexacting because she was in a nursing home and we thought she was doing somewhat alright. That's what brought me down for some of the trip.
