F Bullying and Cyberbullying. We hear about them everywhere you go. From posters, to T.V. shows, to books, it's announced everywhere. People "say" they are helping, but are they really. Lets first say what Bullying and Cyberbullying are, if you have been living under a rock this whole time. Bullying, from my past experiences, are where people say they will be your friend, but betray, make fun, and are a pain in the behind for you. Bullies usually pick on new students, disabled students, someone who is different for their religion/race, anyone who likes to have a very close relationship with the same gender, someone who is overweight/underweight, or students who are better at the bully at something. They bully that person to make themselves feel better. Especially where I live in the so called "Powell Bubble", which really means, if you don't live here, you are not a human being. People think that the world is just in the "Powell Bubble", but in reality, the "Powell Bubble" is just one place out of a million. You can't stay in the "Powell Bubble" forever. And the diversity is what causes bullying in some cases. Cyberbullying is the same thing, but more pathetic. It's bullying someone behind a phone or computer. To me the whole idea of bullying is just plain stupid.
The effects of any kind of bullying can last a lifetime. If someone is bullied, then they become less self confident, their grades lower, have more stress/anxiety, skip school, lose connections with family and friends, drug/ alcohol/drugs, and possibly the worst of all, suicide. Most students who commit suicide or attempted to commit, are people who were bullied and the bully ruined their social, school, and personal life. It's just truly awful. From a point of view of being bullied is not a light thing to take. For me, I was a new student with a lot of talent. I had to make new friends, and those "friends" saw that talent and used it against me. They told me if I gave them an answer, they wouldn't spread rumors that weren't even true. This went on for about 3 years. I thought it wasn't going to get any better. `But I tried to stay as positive as possible. And in the end, things did get better. I now have new friends and a whole lot more confidence! Back to the beginning statement, people who try to help, that have no experience with being bullied, cannot understand the hard loneliness and prue sadness it brings. But people just have to remember, if you stay strong, things will get better in the end! :)
