You know when you've had a rough night sleep from either a headache, puking, or just plain coughing, that you know you might be catching something. Over the past few days for me has been rough, but if you keep your head in the clouds, it will be easy to get rid of your funk. Ahh, the wonderful transition from fall to winter. Leaf raking, darker afternoons, sunny mornings, frosted grass. You know you love that time of year! Especially when a student, like me, can't wait for the first snow day! But do you know what else comes with awesome colder weather, ILLNESSES! Funk like the Flu, walking pneumonia, whooping cough, they can just bring the happiness of winter down. For me, in this transition of seasons, I will 99.9% of the time will catch something. Two years ago, whooping cough, last year, the Flu, and this year ear infections with LOTS of coughing. UGGGG!!! It really does stink, but once you're through with your round of funk, you get nothing for the rest of the winter.
One thing that is good form being sick around the same time is how someone deals with it. There are many ways to prevent or lessen the chance of getting sick. Here are some of my tips. #1 Eat healthy! The better you eat, the better your immune system is to fight any of your funk. #2 WASH YOUR HANDS. I think you've heard this one many times! But let's say you were outside, and you came in and forgot to wash your hands. Those germs on your hands are now on your face, body, food, pets, etc. #3 Get plenty of sleep! If you can get al least 8 hours of sleep a night, then your melatonin levels rise which improves immune system. I hope you have a nice warm bowl of chicken noodle soup the next time you are sick! :)
